Verminaard was a Dragon Highlord during the war of the Lance,  controlling the tower of Pax Tharkas. He liked to torture people, make them suffer, and had absolutely no remorse for making that. He had a powerful magic mace called Nightbringer. He was defeated by the companions. Then his mace was stole by the gully dwarf Sestun and never seen again.
